Description: Dale Miller has been making knives since 2015, after many years of working in wood, building musical instruments, speakers, hand planes, and other pieces. He uses knives in the kitchen, regularly making charcuterie and tsukemono (Japanese pickles) and uses this experience to inform his knife design and execution. His mission is to make functional, beautiful knives out of the best available materials. Lately he has been making high quality slipjoint and linerlock folders as well as flippers. This flipper really shows Dale's skills as an up-and-coming maker!
The blade is well centered and has silky-smooth, drop-shut action with no blade play. The blade runs on Delrin caged ceramic ball bearings. The knife can be easily deployed using the ambidextrous flipper tab.
The Go Mai blade has a 26C3 carbon steel core. The outer layers combine 1045 and 1018 tool steels. All layers are separated by nickel for visual pop and to prevent carbon migration. 26C3 is a fine-grained, high carbon steel (1.25%) from Uddeholm developed for scalpels and razor blades. It comes out of the quench at 68 Hrc and its purity (very low phosphorous and sulfur) provides good toughness even at very high hardness.
Handle scales are rare vintage rag Micarta, set with an heirloom fit. 410 stainless steel bolsters have a curved bottom edge and fluting. A black oxide finish provides an abrasion reistant surface. They are screwed on with blind screws from the back for a clean visual appearance. The scales are set on anodized titanium liners with thorn pattern hand filework. The heat colored 416 stainless steel pocket clip is heat treated to spring temper (44 Hrc). It is mounted for right-side, tip up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
