Andrew Blomfield started making knives in early 2015, when he retired from farming sheep and cattle. Within a few months, he had made twelve knives for the Sydney Knife Show, where he won the encouragement award (for enthusiasm).
Since then, he has travelled the world to study with some of the greatest knife artists alive today. He has taken knifemaking courses from various mastersmiths including Shaun McIntyre, David Lisch, Rodrigo Sfreddo, and Kyle Royer. When he began engraving in 2017, he took courses with Gabriel Owen (of the Australian Jewllery Institute), Barry Lee Hands, and Sam Alfano. Since his first show in 2015, he has won significant awards at Australian knife shows, including two Best in Show, one Best Damascus, and one Best Forged Knife.
Every knife that Blomfield makes pushes his comfort zone and challenges his skills. I'm very excited to see what Bomfield makes next!
