Description: This hunter is the work of Andrew Blomfield. Andrew hails from New South Wales, Australia and became an American Bladesmith Society Journeyman Smith in June 2022. I was tremendously excited when I was introduced to his work by fellow countryman Bruce Barnett. Blomfield brings a level of skill that is extremely rare. This drop point hunter is a nice example of his clean work.
The 3.9 inch drop point blade was forged to shape from 5160 carbon steel ensuring a long lasting, chip resistant cutting edge. A hand rubbed satin finish adds an heirloom quality to the blade. Andrew's mark is on the left side of the blade.
A contoured ringed gidgee handle provides a comfortable grip. Gidgee (Acacia cambagei) is an exceptional wood for knife handles and is considered to be one of Australia's most beautiful timbers. It has tremendous stability even when exposed to fluctuations in humidity and temperature. It is among the densest woods in the world and has a beautiful curl similar to Hawaiian koa. A dovetailed stainless steel guard completes the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style leather sheath is included.
Exceptional work throughout!
