Description: This OKA Tactical Kwaiken was made by Eugene, OR knifemaker Ben Tendick. Ben is a full time knifemaker and started making knives in 2010. He is well known throughout the industry for his Japanese-American hybrid style.
The kwaiken is a "pocket knife" or "sleeve knife" originally carried by the women of the Samurai class in Japan. The word kwaiken translates to "chest knife" or "bosom knife". All wives of Samurai were expected to carry it for self defense as well as for rituals and ceremonies. It later became adopted as part of the Samurai equipment for use during indoor self defense due to katana being too long to swing safely indoors.
The spearpoint blade is formed from CPM-3V carbon steel. This powdered metallurgical carbon steel provides maximum resistance to breakage and chipping in a high wear-resistant steel.
The epoxy hardened wrapping (tsuka ito) features a dark burgundy underwrap and a textured titanium menuki on the left side. The handle feels exceptional in hand, yet allows for comfortable concealed carry.
This tactical utility knife is accompanied by a Tek-lok ready custom Kydex sheath.
