Description: Trevor Burger is a second-generation knifemaker following in the steps of his father, Fred Burger. He has an eye for detail. His knives have exceptionally smooth action and clean, no-nonsense designs. This custom Sahara Signature flipper is a compact folder with a streamlined design that may make you really appreciate the details.
The sheepsfoot blade is made from high performing stainless damascus forged by Damasteel in Sweden. The high contrast pattern is immediately captivating and complements the engraved handle nicely. The blade runs on an IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. Trevor created this Sahara Signature Flipper with ceramic ball bearings. Generally IKBS bearings are made either from tool steel or from stainless steel. Stainless steel can wear away, resulting in uneven action over time. Tool steel bearings can oxidize making the action rough. Ceramic bearings are the best of all worlds. Extremely hard and wear resistant, they are also inert and will not oxidize. The blade can be easily rotated open single-handed using the front flipper tab. The blade is perfectly centered.
The handle is made from blue lightning strike carbon fiber. Bronze wire is woven through the carbon fiber. The scales meet perfectly with the zirconium bolsters. The bolsters are meticulously engraved with a knotwork motif and inlaid with silver accents by Belgium-born artist Julien Marchal. Julien studied engraving and gun making at Léon Mignon Liège in Belgium and now lives in South Africa. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is highly resistant to corrosion and scuffing. Titanium liners are anodized blue and surround a carbon fiber backbar. Jimping along the liners provides a solid purchase. The 3D machined titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
