Description: Trevor Burger is a second-generation knifemaker following in the steps of his father, Fred Burger. He has an eye for detail. His knives have exceptionally smooth action and clean, no-nonsense designs.
This custom Atlas Signature flipper is a compact folder with a streamlined design that may make you appreciate smaller knives. The blade is made from high performing stainless damascus forged by Damasteel in Sweden. The high contrast pattern is immediately captivating and complements the engraved handle nicely. The blade runs on an IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. Trevor created this Atlas Signature Flipper with ceramic ball bearings. Generally IKBS bearings are made either from tool steel or from stainless steel. Stainless steel can wear away, resulting in uneven action over time. Tool steel bearings can oxidize making the action rough. Ceramic bearings are the best of all worlds. Extremely hard and wear resistant, they are also inert and will not oxidize. The blade has silky-smooth action and is easily opened single-handed using the flipper tab. The blade is perfectly centered.
The handle is made from titanium that has been meticulously engraved and inlaid with 24k gold accents by Julien Marchal. Belgium-born artist Marchal studied engraving and gun making at Léon Mignon Liège in Belgium and now lives in South Africa. The floral scroll engraving shows his tremendous attention to detail and elegant designs. The handle is completed with hand filed titanium liners that have been anodized blue.
This Atlas Signature is sure to be at the center of any collection!
