Description: This Willem Steenkamp custom EDC-Ti is a flipper design and a fantastic utility folder. The drop point blade and ergonomic handle are perfectly designed and implemented.
Willem was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2007. His attention to detail is clearly evident in his knives.
The 3-1/4 inch drop point blade is made from N690 stainless steel hardened to 59HRC with a satin finish. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The blade is perfectly centered and has silky smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The handle is made from layered black G-10 and carbon fiber set on anodized titanium liners. The scales are nicely rounded with five indents sculpted into each side. A black G-10 backspacer keeps the knife light and durable. The black titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed tip-up carry.
Exceptional work throughout!
