Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005.
The hand ground N690 stainless blade features a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. N690 is a steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. The increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade has been hollow ground for easy, quick touchups.
The blade is easily opened with a simple flick of the flipper mechanism. The blade is well centered and has silky-smooth, drop-shut action, due to the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
Jigged black G10 handle scales provide an attractive appearance and a sure grip. These are set on anodized and fileworked titanium liners.
This folder is a classy and refined piece, yet a rugged and strong. It will be easy to keep it close at hand using the pierced titanium pocket clip, mounted for tip-up, right-side carry.
Herucus is clearly a maker to keep an eye out for - exceptional fit and finish throughout!
