Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kiku Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. His father runs a small workshop in Seki, grinding blades for production knife makers. Kiku joined his father's business at the age of 15 and learned the grinding technique from his father. Kiku's skill at the grinder has become legendary. Whether you know it or not, you may already have a knife blade ground by him. He grinds knifes for the like of William Henry, Pro-tech, and Randall Kings. In fact, he personally grinds and polishes William Henry's custom grade blades.
Betsu-Kamui, meaning River God, is an exceptional knife. It features an upswept skinning knife with a thin Hamaguri-ba (convex) grind and a non-reflective disruptive acid finish. The Super Gold 2 PM steel is among the best edge holding stainless steels used in Japan. The thumb ramp is textured for a secure grip. OD green canvas micarta scales were hand contoured for a secure, comfortable grip. The handle is completed with a lanyard hole on the end. This is a perfect Kiku knife to be used as a skinner or general utility knife -- a perfect choice for your outback adventures!
Accompanied by hand fitted Kydex sheath with Tek-Lok belt clip. Exceptional work throughout! with lanyard hole on end and thumb notches on back.
