Description: This Model 12-13 inch Randall Thorpe Bowie was made sometime between 1984 and 1986, and has been in a private collection. It has not been used and is in excellent condition. There are some extremely minimal surface scuffs on the blade, though I often see scuffing of this level on knives directly from Randall, so they may be original. Although this model is in current production, vintage models such as this are harder to find, particularly in this condition, and are far more collectible.
Modeled after a design furnished by Raymond W. Thorpe, author of The Bowie Knife, this is very likely the most nearly authentic Bowie type. The long blade of 13 inches was forged from O1 tool steel and is the longest blade in the Randall Knives lineup. The top swedge is fully sharpened.
The stacked leather handle starts in a slim waist, moves into a palm swell and tapers toward the butt end in a commando fashion. The hilt is solid brass, as is the end cap (unlike on modern versions).
The knife is accompanied by the original brown leather sheath. A rare opportunity to acquire a vintage Randall!
