Description: This VERY rare Randall 14 Bowie features a muskox horn handle. The muskox (Ovibos moschatus) is an Arctic mammal of the family Bovidae. Muskoxen primarily live in Arctic North America and Greenland, with small populations in Sweden, Siberia and Norway. The world population is estimated at between 80,000 and 125,000. The convoluted, translucent figure is immediately captivating. Muskox is among the rarest handle materials used by knifemakers today. Nickel silver fittings surround the horn. Black fiber spacers allow the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
The O1 carbon steel blade was forged to shape and tempered for strength and durability. The knife is accompanied by a Randall leather sheath with sharpening stone.
