Description: This is an exceptional hunter by renowned knifemaker, Roderick Chappel. This knife has been in a single collection and is in new condition. Though it was made in the early summer of 2004, by all appearances, Chappel could have made it yesterday.
The 5.4 inch blade was hollow ground and features dramatic grind lines. On the left side, it is marked: "June 12th, 2004 / Arlington, Wa. / SS. 440C". On the right side, it is marked: "Roderick Caribou Chappel / Shadow Fox III / Ser. No 003".
The hollow ground, mirror polished blade is formed from 440C stainless steel. Rod was well known for his dramatic, sweeping grind lines. The thick spine features jimping for a secure thumb purchase.
Stabilized box elder burl is set on a distal tapered full tang. Red fiber spacers assist the handle in adjusting to temperature and humidity changes. As is typical of Rod's work, the handle has been carved for a very secure grip. The handle is completed with a lanyard hole and a knotted leather lanyard.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
