Description: 2011 marks the 35th anniversary of Bob's knifemaking. Throughout the year, he will be marking his 35 favorite knives of the year with the "Lay 35" mark to celebrate the anniversary. This is one such knife.
Bob Lay's designs are well thought out and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship. The mirror polished 416 stainless steel guard and butt cap help create a perfect balance in the hand while the spalted maple burl handle swells to fit the palm perfectly. The buffalo horn spacer complements the black spalting in the maple grain perfectly - and Bob has chosen a particularly lovely piece of burl. Nickel silver spacers add a nice contrast.
This dramatic fighter really shows off Bob Lay's knifemaking at its best. By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife that emphasizes the precision of his work. The blade has been heat treated to 59 Hrc for optimal edge retention. ATS-34 ensures a resilient edge. The clip is brought to a fully sharpened edge. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
