Description: This exceptional hunting knife was hand forged by South African bladesmith Theunis Greyling. TJ is a part time knifemaker and a member of the Cape Knifemakers Guild. He was honored to qualify for the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa in August 2025. His work is well designed and has a tremendous level of fit and finish. Given the level of work, perhaps it is no surprise that he won the Nick Grabe award for Best New Knifemaker at this year's Guild Show.
The 4 inch blade is hand forged 52100 carbon steel. 52100 is considered among the best steels used in modern knifemaking. It brings exceptional edge holding and resilience. The blade features a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. The spine is textured for a secure thumb purchase.
The handle is hand contoured Australian river gum burl (Eucalyptus camaldulensis). A central hand domed rivet combines stainless steel and bronze. The front of the handle is sealed with a 316 stainless steel guard. A red fiber spacer assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched tooled leather sheath, also made by Greyling.
Exceptional work throughout!
