Description: Ben Tendick of BRT Bladeworks is a full-time knifemaker based in Eugene, Oregon, where he crafts custom knives and titanium tools with a focus on sole authorship. Since starting in 2010, Ben has built a reputation for high-quality, handmade work — handling everything from blade grinding and heat treating (including cryo treatment) to handle shaping and sheath-making himself. A proud husband and father of three, he enjoys balancing his passion for bladesmithing with family life, and is grateful to his supporters for helping make his one-man operation a success.
This compact hawksbill knife is a perfect self defense knife. A hawksbill blade is often considered one of the best styles for self-defense because its curved shape naturally “bites” into the target, allowing for deep, controlled cuts with less effort than a straight blade. The hooked design pairs well with natural wrist and arm motions, making defensive strikes fast and efficient in close quarters. The paracord wrapped blade leaves nothing but the sharpened edge exposed making it difficult to be disarmed during use.
The blade is hand ground CPM-3V carbon steel. This powdered metallurgical carbon steel provides maximum resistance to breakage and chipping in a high wear-resistant steel. It is among the toughest steels available in knives. Ben's 3V+ touchmark signifies his in-house specialty cryo heat treatment. This results in exceptional hardness creating a blade you can trust your life with. In the video below, Tendick tests his 3V performance by cutting a solid aluminum block! The flats of the blade are wire brushed and the grinds are satin finished.
The epoxy hardened wrapping (tsuka ito) features a black underwrap and overwrap. The low-profile handle feels exceptional, yet allows for comfortable concealed carry. The handle completely disappears into your hand and is extremely slip resistant.
A Kydex sheath is included to keep the knife safely at hand.
Excellent work throughout!
