Description: This massive bowie knife is the work of Rocco Chicarilli of Spanaway, Washington. Rocco has been making custom knives for decades and can often be found frequenting knife shows in the Pacific Northwest. He makes working grade knives with excellent fit and finish.
The 11-1/3 inch blade is polished CPM-154 stainless steel. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant. The blade is flat ground and razor sharp. Rocco's touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
The handle is frame construction. A 440C stainless steel frame features curly koa scales. Koa (Acacia koa) is a beautiful exotic wood that only grows on the Hawaiian Islands. It is one of the most desirable woods in the world due to its elegant, chatoyant curl. The front and rear of the handle are sealed with a polished 416 stainless steel oval guard and pommel. This knife feels excellent in hand with the forward-heavy balance expected of a heavy duty chopping knife.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand stitched horsehide leather custom sheath is included. A padded zipper case is also included for long term storage.
Excellent work throughout!
