Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce has worked alongside some of the most prominent knifemakers in the world including Mastersmith Bill Burke. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing slipjoint folder.
This muskrat features two blades. The clip point blade measures 3 inches with a 2.7 inch cutting edge. The Wharncliffe blade measures 2.9 inches and has a 2-1/2 inch cutting edge. Both blades are CPM-154 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant. The blades can be opened using the right-handed nail nicks. Both blades are perfectly centered.
Handle scales are mammoth ivory bark set on hand fileworked stainless steel liners using hand domed pins. The ivory selected is nicely matched with cream and rare blue tones. Front and rear satin finished bolsters will protect the ivory if the knife is dropped. Showing tremendous build quality, Bruce made the bolsters integral to the liners. The satin finished CPM-154 backspring controls both blades. The handle is hand contoured for a comfortable grip.
A branded custom zipper case is included to protect the knife during storage.
Excellent work throughout!
