Description: Franck Souville is a knifemaker and blacksmith from Montgesoye, France. He creates forged fixed blades as well as slipjoints and friction folders both in modern and classic styles. This Little Bad folder is a perfect example of a classic slipjoint style folder with exceptional fit and finish.
The clip point blade is hand forged U10A carbon steel. U10A steel is a high-carbon tool steel, known for its high strength and hardness. U10A is considered clean steel, meaning it is free from alloy banding and suitable for differential hardening. Franck has taken advantage of this to provide a differential heat treatment line, separating the ultra-hard cutting edge from the softer spine. We recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade from rust.
The blade can be easily opened using the oversized nail nick. The action is smooth and the blade snaps firmly into place. The stronger resistance on the spring ensures the knife is less likely to close by accident during use. Souville's touchmark is on the left ricasso.
Vintage rag Micarta handle scales are hand contoured to provide a comfortable grip. They are fit to fluted stainless steel bolsters in an elegant curve. A lanyard can be added at the rear using the included stainless steel tube for extra retention.
Excellent work throughout!
