Description: Mastersmith Henry Torres makes an exceptional, high performing knife! He had the opportunity to work under renowned Mastersmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to understand Burke's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using the same technique -- creating a differentially heat treated blade with a hard edge and softer, supportive spine. The result is exceptional performance.
The drop point blade is hand forged 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. It features an heirloom quality hand rubbed satin finish. A differential heat treatment line travels along the blade. This shows the transition between the ultra-hard cutting edge and the supportive spine. This technique ensures this knife will have the very best edge holding combined with strength and durability. Henry's touchmark is on the left side of the blade. His M.S. mark is on the right side. Because the blade is forged from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade and natural mammoth ivory handle.
The handle is hand contoured from crosscut mammoth ivory. This creates the appearance of looking down the center of the tusk. Front and rear spacers are African blackwood. African blackwood is among the most dense, durable woods in the world, highly prized for its jet black appearance. The front and rear of the handle are sealed with a satin finished 416 stainless steel guard and pommel.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style leather custom sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
