Description: Andrew Smith began making knives in 2008 when he was just 15 years old. He started forging knives out of railroad spikes and tomahawks out of bar stock and ball peen hammers. For years this was all that he made. Today he makes all kinds of knives, but still has a deep love for making hawks.
The head of this axe is forge finished, hand forged 4140 tool steel. The edge measures approximately 3-1/3 inches. The head is 7-1/2 inches from the cutting edge to the back of the spike. Andrew's touchmark is on the left side of the head.
The haft is hand carved ash, finished with boiled linseed oil. The ash nicely complements the forge textured blade giving the tomahawk an old world feel. The haft is tapered to provide excellent balance for throwing and chopping. The bottom of the haft is jigged for additional grip.
A hand stitched leather custom sheath is included to protect the axe during storage.
Excellent work throughout!
