Description: Iowa knifemaker Mike Zscherny has been making knives since 1978 and is a full time maker. He is a very well known maker and specializes in slipjoint folders inspired by Tony Bose. Mike is renowned as one of the leaders of slipjoint folders. His knives have exquisite fit and finish. It is no surprise, that his wait list has become exceptionally long.
The spearpoint blade on this Zulu Slipjoint is hand ground CPM-154 stainless steel. This American-made powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant. The top of the blade features a long swedge. A hand rubbed satin finish provides an heirloom quality. The blade is perfectly centered and has smooth, consistent action.
Handle scales are antique rag Micarta set on satin finished 416 stainless steel liners using hand domed pins. A satin finished stainless steel escutcheon is inlaid into the left scale. Handle scales are lightly contoured to provide a comfortable grip. Satin finished 416 stainless steel bolsters are perfectly fit to the scales.
Excellent work throughout!
