Description: Iowa knifemaker Mike Zscherny has been making knives since 1978 and is a full time maker. He is a very well-known maker and specializes in slipjoint folders inspired by Tony Bose. Mike is renowned as one of the leaders of slipjoint folders. His knives have exquisite fit and finish. It is no surprise, that his wait list has become exceptionally long.
The clip point blade on this Trapper Slipjoint is hand ground CPM-154 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. This American-made powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant. The top of the blade features a long swedge.
The blade is perfectly centered and has smooth, consistent action. A firm half stop makes the knife easy to open and close safely.
Handle scales are stabilized Australia banksia wood originating from southwestern Australia. The scales are attached to the liners using hand domed stainless steel pins. A stainless steel escutcheon is perfectly inlaid into the left side scale. Satin finished and fluted 416 stainless steel bolsters are perfectly fit to the scales. The contoured handle fills your hand nicely and provides a comfortable grip.
Excellent work throughout!
