Description: Andrew Smith began making knives in 2008 when he was only 15 years old. He started forging knives out of railroad spikes and tomahawks out of bar stock and ball peen hammers. For years this was all that he made. Today he makes all kinds of knives, but still has a deep love for making hawks.
The head of this hawk is hand forged 4140 alloy tool steel and features a forge finish. The edge measures approximately 3-1/3 inches. The head is 5.4 inches from the cutting edge to the back of the hammer.
The haft is hand carved hickory, finished with boiled linseed oil. The hickory nicely complements the forge textured blade giving the tomahawk an old world feel. The haft is tapered to provide excellent balance for throwing and chopping.
A harness leather custom sheath protects the edge when carried.
Nice work throughout!
