Description: Josh Osborne of Rogue Forge is a bladesmith and blacksmith working out of Central Point, Oregon. He has been a full-time blacksmith since 2018. In May of 2021, he made the transition to becoming a full time bladesmith. He is currently working on becoming a journeyman smith with the American Blade Society. We are excited to offer this new local maker to our gallery!
The blade on this Field Knife is hand forged 5160 carbon steel. 5160 combines excellent edge holding coupled with durability and chip resistance. The flats are forge finished and the grinds are satin finished. Because the blade was forged closely to shape, Josh ensures optimal grain structure in his knives. Josh's touchmark is on the left side of the blade. Because the blade is forged from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade and natural wood handle.
The handle combines green dyed and stabilized spalted maple, dovetailed to brown dyed maple ‘bolsters’. White fiber liners will help the natural wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The tang has been fileworked and filled with epoxy to make it easy to keep clean.
To keep the knife close at hand, a leather custom sheath made by Josh's wife at Tap Roots Leather is included.
Excellent work throughout!
