Description: Mastersmith Jon Christensen has been making knives since 1999. It wasn't long before he had the knifemaking bug and was taken under the tutelage of Mastersmith Ed Caffrey to learn more about the hand forged knife. Jon earned his J.S. in 2003 and his Mastersmith rating shortly thereafter, in 2006. His knives have clean designs and excellent fit and finish. This Pigskin Caping Knife was made between 2003 and 2006. It was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances, Jon could have made it yesterday!
The 3.7 inch blade was hand forged from Jon's own damascus, combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The damascus is deeply etched for high contrast. Jon's touchmark is on the left side of the blade and his J.S. mark is on the right side.
Both the blade and handle are one solid piece of Damascus, ensuring strength and durability. The handle was then wrapped in pigskin, providing a slip resistant grip. At only 1.8 ounces, this thin knife will easy to keep close by.
To keep the knife close at hand, a leather sheath with metal clip is included. This allows the knife to be worn in the back or front right pocket as well as on a belt.
Excellent work throughout!
