Description: Journeyman Smith Jim Arbuckle resides in Yorktown, VA. He started making knives in 1979 and has been forging knives since 1996. Growing up in Washington State, he spent most weekends hunting and fishing and has a great understanding of what features make a knife perform well. This Swayback Hunter is a perfect knife for field dressing and butchering game after the hunt.
The blade is high performing, low care 154CM stainless steel and has an heirloom quality hand-rubbed satin finish. It was hardened and triple tempered to Rc 59-60 for excellent edge retention. The blade is distal tapered to lighten it and create a perfect balance. It is convex ground and provides a durable chip-resistant edge. Jim's touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
English walnut handle scales are set on a full tang for strength and durability. Walnut wood is highly prized for its dimensional stability. The handle is contoured with a deep choil - this semi-circular cut-out allows the forefinger to rest comfortably and makes the knife easy to hold in several different grip options.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand stitched pouch style 10 oz veg tanned leather custom sheath made by Jim is included.
Excellent work throughout!
