Description: Beginning in 1997, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin started down the path of reshaping the manner in which the survival and wilderness industry carried out business. Having become frustrated with the endless amount of exaggeration and hype often associated with “survival” gear and training, they launched Randall’s Adventure & Training to bring realistic tools and knowledge to the consumer market. Working under contract with the Peruvian Air Force’s “Escuela de Supervivencia en la Selva” (School of Jungle Survival), also known by the acronym ESSEL, they introduced many clients to the art of jungle survival in the vast Peruvian Amazon jungle. After a number of years operating in South America, they relocated their training stateside and launched a sister company to produce high quality field grade knives and gear – ESEE Knives. Today the ESEE brand is known and distributed worldwide. ESEE Knives / Randall’s Adventure & Training clientele ranges from special operations personnel, rescue technicians, hunters, law enforcement, border security, film crews, outdoorsman and professional adventurers. Their courses and gear have been featured on the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel and in numerous movies, books, leading outdoor magazines and trade publications.
The Darien Machete is a bonified chopping machine whether out in the Amazon or the jungle in your own backyard! The 12-1/2 inch blade is 1075 carbon steel with a convex grind, giving the blade plenty of durability to chop through those thicker branches. A blackened finish gives the knife some limited rust resistance. The convex bevels, spine, and tang are satin finish. Because the knife is made from carbon steel, we recommend using drying the knife and oiling it with camellia oil before putting it away.
The handle is contoured black Micarta, secured to the full tang using brass rivets. Micarta is extremely durable and does not get slippery when wet. This makes it a perfect handle material for jungle and survival knives. A brass lined tube at the back of the handle allows for a lanyard to be added for extra retention.
A rugged tan canvas sheath is included to safely carry the knife.
This knife includes a warranty from Esee Knives. Their warranty is pretty simple: if you break it, they will repair or replace it. They will not question the validity of your warranty claim for a broken knife, handles, sheath, clip plate or hardware. Warranty is lifetime and transferable. In other words, they warranty these products no matter how many times they have been traded, sold or given away – no sales receipt or proof of purchase required.
