Description: Richard Soler is a talented knifemaker from Auriol, France. He specializes in high performance front flippers. The influence of his good friend and fellow maker Guy Pogetti can clearly be seen in his work. Richard's knives are exceptional and we are excited to showcase it here in the United States where his work is rarely available.
The flat ground blade is Shirogami 2 carbon steel, heat treated using a traditional Japanese clay zone heat treatment. This technique, known as honyaki, creates some of the longest lasting edges found anywhere. The ultra-hard edge steel is supported by the softer spine. The dramatic heat treatment line (called a hamon) shows the transition between the soft and hard steel. Soler's mark is on the left side of the blade.
Handle scales are burlap Micarta, set on bead blasted titanium liners. A marble carbon fiber backbar keeps the knife light, yet strong. A lanyard is included that has a custom bead of matching burlap Micarta. The bead blasted titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
