Description: Sam Eddleman is a maker to watch. There's often an element of the fantastic in his knives, with stylistic references to both feudal Japan and the contemporary military. Sam made his first knife in 2008 -- as a knife collector he found that making knives himself was the intuitive next step. This Armor Piercing Tanto Front Flipper was designed by Sam and built by Reate Knives. These are the first production run and are individually numbered between 1 and 300.
Reate Knives builds its high quality knives with immaculate fit and finish. The founder of Reate, David Deng, is a long time knife enthusiast with a background in mechanical design and manufacturing. Reate uses only the best blade steels gathered from around the world and never compromises on materials. Reate is changing the way the industry looks at knives made in China.
The armor piercing tanto blade is M390 stainless steel, a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powder metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. The blade can be easily deployed using the ambidextrous front flipper. It has smooth action thanks to the ceramic ball bearing pivot.
Handle scales are black titanium with red G-10 diamond inlays. The inlays are designed to emulate the classic look of a Japanese nylon wrapped tanto or katana. A titanium backbar keeps the knife light and strong. The 3D machined titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Made in China.
