Description: Andrew Smith began making knives in 2008, when he was only 15 years old. He started forging knives out of railroad spikes and tomahawks out of bar stock and ball peen hammers. For years this was all that he made. Today he makes all kinds of knives, but still has a deep love for making hawks. We were extremely pleased to meet him at Blade Show 2021 and are excited to continue to offer his hawks and knives.
The head of this axe is hand forged from 100 layer twisted W's damascus, combining 1080 and 15n20 carbon steels. The edge is 3-3/4 inches long. The blade measures 5-1/4 inches from the back of the hammer to the cutting edge. Andrew's touch mark is on the left side of the head.
The haft is premium walnut. The dark wood nicely complements the damascus head. The haft is tapered to provide excellent balance for throwing or chopping. The top and bottom of the haft is textured by hand.
A leather sheath is included to keep the axe protected during transportation.
Excellent work throughout!
