Description: This exceptional Hunter was hand built by California knifemaker Pedro Gonzalez. Born and raised in Southern California, Pedro is the youngest of 7 children. He grew up working with his father, who taught him everything he knows in terms of mechanics and fabrication. That passion of building and crafting things with his hands led him to knifemaking. In August of 2018, Pedro came across of video of someone making a 2x72 knife grinder and thought, "I can build one of those." Everything snowballed and soon he was building his own knives. Gonzales is a one-man show from start to finish. Every aspect of the knives and sheaths is done by him. He is a stickler on aesthetics, fit and finish, as well as functionality. His knives are works of art -- eye catching, elegant, but purposefully built for a specific task.
The drop point blade is AEB-L stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. AEB-L is ultra high performance -- combining the convenience of stainless steel with the ability to take an acute edge and hold it (a characteristic usually only found in carbon steels). AEB-L steel was designed for razors, which need corrosion resistance, high hardness, and very acute edges. Once you try a knife that is made with AEB-L, you'll immediately understand why it is coveted by knife enthusiasts and knifemakers. The resulting blade has an extremely keen, long-lasting edge.
Handle scales are presentation curly koa. (Acacia koa) is a beautiful exotic wood that only grows on the Hawaiian islands. It is one of the most desirable exotic woods in the world. White Juma bolsters add contrast. This unique material emulates the look of snake skin. A spacer made from Raffir Noble creates an engaging transition point between the two materials. Raffir Noble is a composite material with fine bronze mesh suspended inside. The distal tapered tang provides excellent balance in hand. A lanyard is included in the rear for extra retention.
To keep the knife close at hand, a brown leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
