Description: This Kosie Steenkamp custom Majesty Flipper is a fantastic utility folder -- yet it would feel equally comfortable in most any collection. The drop point blade and ergonomic handle are perfectly designed for any task at hand. The folder has incredibly smooth action thanks to the IKBS bearing system. The Ikoma Korth Bearing System (IKBS) was originally designed to fit balisong knives and uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. The flipper mechanism is tremendously easy to use for quick one-handed opening.
Kosie was introduced to knife making by his brother, Willem Steenkamp. He began making knives in 2007 and was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2009. Kosie is a stickler for detail and perfection - all these qualities and his obvious passion for this craft comes through in his work.
The blade is M390, a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powder metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. It offers excellent corrosion resistance due to its high concentration of chromium. The blade is hollow ground for easy maintenance.
Dark Matter FatCarbon scales are set on satin finished titanium liners. Chad Nichols stainless damascus bolsters are perfectly fit to the scales. Titanium liners are jewel polished in the interior and surround a carbon fiber back spacer. The matching stainless damascus pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
