Description: Tom Buckner, out of Olympia, Washington, makes amazing hunting and culinary knives. He has a tremendous fit and finish and well tested designs. This drop point hunter is a classic design originally developed by renowned knifemaker Bob Loveless. The Loveless Drop Point Hunter has become a hallmark of the knife industry. It is considered by many hunters to be the ideal hunting knife design.
The blade on this drop point hunter is American made CPM-154 stainless steel. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant. Tom's mark is on the left side of the blade and the steel used on the right side.
Sambar stag handle scales are secured to the full tang using mosaic pins and a steel lanyard tube. Red fiber spacers separate the scales from the distal tapered full tang. This assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The rounded handle is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip.
This Drop Point Hunter is accompanied by a hand stitched custom leather sheath to help protect the edge during transport and storage.
Excellent work throughout!
