Description: Captain Bunshichi Koyama is a tremendously creative knifemaker from Japan. His designs are truly innovative -- often combining ancient and modern materials into whimsical, unique creations. This knife was inspired by a traditional Japanese tradesman's folder called a higonokami. Like the higonokami, the extended tang is used to open the blade, but it also acts as a lock to avoid the blade accidentally closing when in use. Koyama-san has added detent balls that also resist the blade accidentally closing.
This folder features a 3.9" VG10 suminagashi damascus san mai blade. VG-10 provides ultra-high performance with stain resistance. The blade is easily opened using the extended tang.
Dark jigged bone handle scales are set on anodized titanium liners. Dyed and stabilized maple burl bolsters meet nicely with the scales. Timascus titanium damascus pivot collars surround the pivot. At just 3.4 oz, it is easy to keep this elegant folder by your side. It can also be conveniently carried in the wet formed leather pouch with rayskin overlay.
Excellent work throughout!
