Description: Journeyman Smith Gary Rodewald makes an exceptional Bowie. From the complex forged damascus to the premium ironwood handle, this bowie would feel as home in a private collection as it would out in the field. The fit and finish is excellent.
The large 9-3/4 inch blade is laddered W's mosaic damascus forged from 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels to ensure great edge holding. The high contrast damascus pattern is immedietly engaging both from a distance and upon closer examination. The large clip point travels half way up the blade and stops just short of being fully sharpened. Gary's mark is on the left side of the blade.
The handle is a premium section of presentation grade Arizona desert ironwood, sculpted to provide a sure grip. Contoured to swell in the center, the handle fills your hand nicely. A satin finished nickel silver guard completes the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a custom leather sheath made by Nez Perce Saddlery is included.
Excellent work throughout!
