Description: I was very excited when Stuart Smith introduced me to fellow South African knifemaker, Charl Pienaar. Charl started making knives in 2013 and enjoys focusing on handcrafted folding knives. Every knife is made completely by hand with no use of CNC machines. He prefers to build knives using materials intended for use and carry.
The drop point blade is made from Bohler M390 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. M390 takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powdered metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. It offers excellent corrosion resistance due to its high concentration of chromium. The knife can be easily deployed -- using either the index finger or thumb -- with the ambidextrous and discreet front flipper tab.
Unidirectional carbon fiber handle scales are set on anodized titanium liners. Barrel spacers keep the knife easy to keep clean of lint and debris. A custom pivot collar surrounds the pivot. The anodized titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
