Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce has worked alongside some of the most prominent knifemakers in the world including Mastersmith Bill Burke. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing slipjoint folder.
The blade is premium CPM154 that has been heat treated to Rc 59-60 for optimal edge retention and durability. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! A hand rubbed satin finish lends an heirloom quality. The blade can be opened easily using the nail nick. The action is smooth and consistent with a half stop. It is perfectly centered.
Handle scales made from exhibition grade yellow mallee burl are set on hand fileworked 410 stainless steel liners. The liners are jewel polished on the interior and mill relieved. Satin finished 416 stainless steel front and rear bolsters meet perfectly with the scales. Fluting on the front bolster is polished.
Excellent work throughout!
