Description: Mastersmith Henry Torres makes an exceptional, high performing hunter! He had the opportunity to work under renowned Mastersmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to understand Burke's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using the same technique -- creating a differentially heat treated blade with a hard edge and softer, supportive spine. The result is exceptional.
The blade was forged from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. It was hand satin finished for an heirloom quality. The spine features a forge finish, showing Torres' skill at the forge as he forged the knife closely to shape.
A satin finished 416 stainless steel guard separates the blade from the handle. A black fiber spacer assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The natural texture of the sheep horn provides a sure, comfortable grip. Sheep horn is unique in that it gets grippy when wet, making it a perfect handle for an outdoors-use knife.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched pouch style leather sheath.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
