Description: I was excited when Mastersmith David Lisch introduced me to Mike Clark Jr back in 2018. Since then, his work has continued to show his tremendous attention to detail. Given the level of work, it is no surprise that Mike easily passed his JS Test at the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta, GA. As Mike prepares to test for his MS, he has begun making some spectacular daggers. This dagger is among Clark's master work to date.
The blade is hand ground from Mike's own san mai steel combining a 1084 core with A203E sides. Banding in the A203E gives the knife a damascene appearance. The blade is perfectly ground with a symmetrical ridge down the center. Mike's maker mark and JS are on the ricasso.
The handle combines a central column of stabilized spalted maple with a wrought iron guard and steel pommel. A heat blued steel spacer finished the handle. An heirloom fit between the spalted maple and fittings ensures a timeless, perfect fit. The handle feels exceptional in the hand and is perfectly balanced.
To keep the knife close a hand, a hand stitched leather sheath made by Mike is included.
Excellent work throughout!
