Description: This elegant drop point hunter was hand built by Corpus Christi, TX knifemaker Stephen Scherer. Steven started making knives in 1979 and went full time after retirement in 2007. Steven's knives would feel at home whether in a private collection or on the belt of an avid outdoorsman.
The drop point blade was hand ground from high performing CPM-154 stainless steel. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant. It features a hand rubbed satin finish and is marked on the left side with Scherer's maker's mark. The belly of the knife moves into a recurve making it an ideal knife for skinning while out in the field. The spine of the knife is fileworked to provide additional traction when choking up on the blade.
The handle is premium stabilized afzelia burl set on a full tang using mosaic pins. The scales are nicely dovetailed to black Micarta bolsters. Blue fiber liners add an elegant contrast and will help the wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes out in the field. The bolsters are secured using two copper pins.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
