Description: I was tremendously pleased to meet bladesmith Dave Skinner at the 2019 Guild Show of Southern Africa. Dave brings a refined eye and tremendous skill at the forge to his knives. Over the last few years, his work has continued to develop a level of refinement that is found in very few knifemakers.
This utility/fighter is a tremendous example of his work. It was inspired by renowned South African knifemaker Fanie La Grange. Fanie's unique aesthetic is nicely reflected in this knife.
The blade was forged to shape from 1080 carbon steel, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge. The spine is softened, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge, combined with strength and durability.
The contoured handle is presentation grade stabilized spalted beech. It is set on the distal tapered full tang with five stainless steel pins. By tapering both the blade and tang, Skinner ensures that this knife as perfect balance. You won't want to put it down. 1080 carbon steel bolsters bring weight to the center of the knife.
This utility knife is accompanied by a custom wet formed cowhide sheath.
Exquisite work throughout!
