Description: This exceptional folder is the work of Mel Pardue of Repton, Alabama. Mel was a true pioneer in the knife industry, extremely well regarded for his craft. He took his first steps into the knifemaking world in the late 50s, although he didn’t make his first actual, full custom piece until 1972. That was the same year that he met Frank Centofante, an experience that Pardue described as life-changing. Four years later, in 1976, Pardue became a full-time maker, and he’s considered one of the pioneers of the “tactical” custom knife – a style that led directly to the modern production folder as we know it today. Mel was inducted into the Blade Cutlery Hall of Fame in 2019. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2022. This knife was kept in a private collection since it was made. It has been meticulously cared for and is in mint condition. It has never been used, sharpened, or carried. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday
The damascus tanto blade is made from twist pattern damascus forged from carbon steels. The blade can be easily deployed using the right-handed thumbstud. The action is smooth and the blade is perfectly centered.
The handle is buffalo horn set on hand fileworked and anodized titanium liners. The engraved steel bolsters are hand carved into a beautiful pattern and differentially heat colored. The result is truly incredible! The matching damascus backbar keeps the folder strong.
Exceptional work throughout!
