Description: This exceptional clip point hunter was made by Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson. Jay succeeded Bill Moran as ABS president in 1991. He has taught bladesmithing throughout the US and France and has served as director of the Moran Foundation for 10 years, helping to preserve Bill's Legacy. Jay was inducted into the Cutlery Hall-of-Fame in the spring of 2021.
Mastersmith Hendrickson began by forging the 1084 carbon steel blade to shape. The appleseed grind is a hallmark of Jay's hand forged blades. A clear differential heat treatment line travels along the blade, showing the transition between soft, supportive spine and the keen, hard edge steel. The clip is slightly raised. The spine features hand filework for a secure thumb purchase.
Warm toned rosewood surrounds curly maple. The curly maple is inlaid with fine silver scrolls. The handle is nicely contoured to perfectly fit the hand. This is a knife you won't want to put down.
The knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout from a true master!
