Description: Aaron Wilburn became a journeyman smith in June of 2009 and a master smith in 2013. He creates serious knives for some of the most avid collectors in the industry and makes fantastic slipjoints that have excellent action and superb fit and finish.
The blade is made from CPM-154 stainless steel providing excellent edge retention in an easy to care for steel. The blade was differentially heat treated, bringing the edge to critical temperature then quenched with oil. This technique creates some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere. Many thermal cycles and normalizing steps ensure consistent grain structure and exceptional durability. A cryogenic treatment between tempers further enhances the edge holding ability. The blade features a hand rubbed satin finish. It can be easily opened using the nail nick on the left side of the blade. A hollow grind provides an easy to maintain edge. The blade has excellent action with a firm half-stop.
Handle scales are made from Idaho gunny sack brown G-carta. A stainless steel escutcheon is inlaid into the left side of the handle. A lanyard can be added to the back of the handle to make it easier to pull the knife from a pocket. The scales are fit perfectly to fluted 416 stainless steel bolsters.
Excellent work throughout!
