Description: Journeyman Stuart Smith began making knives in 2000 after he took a class with Mastersmith Kevin Harvey. Stuart was immediately hooked and quite his job working as a salesman by 2004. Only a few years after that, in 2009, Stuart began teaching classes of his own. Among his many students is Neels van den Berg. Stuart has been very active over the years in the Southern African Bladesmiths Association (SABA) and the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA). Stuart became an ABS journeyman smith in June of 2019. Stuart is a powerhouse and one the best bladesmiths coming out of South Africa.
Smith forged this Damascus Clip Point Fighter from his own damascus, combining 1070 and 15N20 carbon steels. The Ws pattern damascus is very fine and has nice chatoyancy. Both the clip and cutting edge are razor sharp.
The handle is hand contoured from a solid piece of linear carbon fiber. Like the steel, its pattern appears to change when turned in the light. The guard and ferrule are made from satin finished 303 stainless steel. The beautiful handle is perfectly shaped for a secure, comfortable grip. This is a knife you won't want to put down.
The knife is accompanied by a custom hand stitched ostrich leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
