Description: Mastersmith Dionatam Franco hails from Brazil. His skill in the forge is only matched with his tremendous attention to detail. He was honored as a master smith at the 2018 Blade Show in Atlanta and received the BR Hughes Award for the best knife submitted by a master smith candidate.
This drop point hunter made by Franco is an exceptional knife. From the perfectly controlled damascus pattern to the subtle, yet intricate sculpting of the handle, this knife is a perfect example of Franco's high level of skill as a knifemaker.
The drop point blade is forged from a Turkish Twist pattern, perfectly forged to the shape of the blade. Franco combined six separate bars of his damascus to create this dramatic blade. There is absolutely zero distortion in the complex pattern. There are very few bladesmiths with the skills to forge this complex blade. Because this knife is made from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to oil the blade and natural wood handle. The spine is crowned for a comfortable thumb purchase.
The handle is contoured from stabilized amboyna burl. A matching damascus guard and pommel surround the exhibition grade wood.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled black pouch style leather sheath is included.
