Description: I was excited when Mastersmith David Lisch introduced me to Mike Clark Jr back in 2018. Mike's attention to detail was clearly evident in his exquisite work. Given the level of work, it is no surprise that Mike easily passed his JS Test at the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta, GA.
The hand forged blade features an elegant drop point. Borrowing a technique from Japan, a central core of 1084 carbon steel is surrounded by softer A203E. This technique, called san mai, results in a hard central core with softer, supportive sides. The transition between the layers is particularly dramatic. The blade features an heirloom quality hand rubbed satin finish.
The handle is formed from a section of premium sambar stag. Stag of this quality is rarely seen today. The forged guard and pommel are formed from heat blued mild steel. The pommel is nicely carved to match the natural shape of the stag. As is typical of Mike Clark's work, this knife featuers take down construction. This technique, which requires exceptional attention to detail, allows the knife to be disassebled if it ever needs repair.
This knife is accompanied by a custom hand tooled, hand stitched leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
