Description: American knifemaker Matt Bailey makes a knife that is as beautiful as it is functional. Bailey is a middle school special education teacher by day and an enthusiast knifemaker in his spare time. This harpoon tip utility hunter is sure to be a knife you will enjoy! It was kept in a private collection since it was made. Other than some slight markings on the spine from going into the sheath, the knife is mint. It has never been used to cut anything.
The 4 inch harpoon tip blade is made from san mai utilizing a 1084 carbon steel core. A dark acid etch provides a high contrast between the core, the sides, and the forged flats. The raised clip provides a comfortable thumb stop when choking up on the blade. Matt's maker mark is featured on the left side of the blade.
Handle scales are made from contoured Arizona desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) secured to the full tang with brass pins. Desert ironwood is a rare wood that is only found in the valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. It is among the most desirable of exotic woods used for knives. A large central mosaic pin is featured in the center of the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a basket weave tooled brown leather sheath is included.
