Description: This knife is a prototype made by Reate for a model that is not yet in production. Only a few of these currently exist and this one is marked as #03 prototype made. This new model has some fine details that are rarely seen in a production environment.
This prototype features a blade made from M390 stainless steel, a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powder metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. A large choil lets you choke up for more detailed cutting tasks. The blade can be easily deployed using the ambidextrous flipper and has smooth action thanks to the ceramic ball bearing pivot.
The handle is made from bead blasted titanium and features a sturdy framelock. Natural Micarta has been inlaid throughout the left side of the handle while the right side of the handle is machine textured. The bead blasted titanium backbar is jimped and provides the option to add a lanyard. The bead blasted titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
