Description: This exceptional utility knife was made by Argentinian brothers Claudio, Ariel, and Marcelo Sobral.
The blade was hand forged from 1095 carbon steel surrounded by 420 stainless steel. This technique, known as san mai (three layers) provides the performance of 1095 carbon steel, with the lower care of stainless steel sides. The transition between the hard center core and the softer sides is particularly dramatic, with a transition line similar to a hamon in appearance. The flats are forge finished. The harpoon tip and recurve cutting edge is a hallmark of their style.
Contoured blackwood carbon fiber scales are set on the full, distal tapered tang. The scales are set in place with two Corby hidden bolt rivets. This knife has a perfect balance. It is among the most comfortable handles you will ever feel.
This San Mai Viper is accompanied by a hand tooled, hand stitched leather sheath by Marcelo Solbral.
Absolutely exceptional work throughout!
